Things we’re proud of

If you’ve ever been to a Henley Female Network breakfast conversation then you’ll know that we love to celebrate the things we’re proud of. It is so easy to find ourselves focusing on the ways that we have ‘failed’. To fixate on the things we haven’t done or wish we’d done. To notice what everyone else is achieving whilst ignoring our own successes.

Trick the algorithm (in your brain)

So, every month on our ticketing website we ask people to share their wins. Small things, big things - any thing that they feel proud of. And then during the Friday conversation we read them out and celebrate together. And one of the things I LOVE about them is how diverse the celebrations are. Not only because it’s fascinating but also because it’s a reminder to all of us to celebrate the little things and to focus on the good stuff. Because our brains are powerful things and the more we focus on something, the more our brains look for that thing. To really simplify, it’s like your social media algorithm - if you’re fed up with seeing the world on fire, watch a few videos of cats and suddenly your feed will be full of cats. If you want to start noticing all the good you’re doing - start paying attention to it, and all of a sudden your brain will be playing the good stuff on repeat…

Some of my favourites

Recently followed my gut instincts and gave up my job in FX Sales to take a break, reassess and explore where life can take me! I preach to my kids; follow your heart and be open to opportunities, and it’s about time I took my own advice! Here’s to the next adventure 😁 Recently followed my gut instincts and gave up my job in FX Sales to take a break, reassess and explore where life can take me!
